The Christian Chinese Religious Culture Research Society (referred to as Zongwen Society) was established in 1957. After 1949, many Christian missions moved to Hong Kong. A group of Christian missionaries and church leaders felt that the church had insufficient understanding of Chinese religious and cultural traditions.
