Sending Path · Introduction to Serving · Lesson 7 of 7 · Raising Up the Next Person · about 4 min
From The Christian Life Catechism, Q41
Besides repenting and bearing fruit, what else is asked of me?
He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to the whole creation.”
Mark 16:15 · WEB
The last lesson of the Sending Path. As you walk with someone, they too become able to walk with the next person—this is multiplication.
Before Jesus left his disciples, he entrusted them with one charge: “Go and make disciples of all nations.” (Matthew 28:19) Notice: ‘make disciples’, not just get people to believe. Disciples raise up disciples—this line runs from Jesus to Peter and Paul, generation after generation, all the way to you today.
Paul said: “if I preach the Good News, I have nothing to boast about, for necessity is laid on me.” (1 Corinthians 9:16) He went not because he was capable, but because he had received grace and could not do otherwise. Raising up the next person is likewise not because you are already very good, but because you have received.
Multiplication is not one person doing a lot, but everyone raising up the next person. Those who have walked the Seeking Path can walk it again with a friend; those who have walked the New Believer’s Path can accompany a new believer through those seven weeks. Having come this far, the four paths of the learning map lead back to the start.
One last, very important thing: IntoOne only helps you prepare. IntoOne does not ordain, does not appoint anyone to office, and does not issue ‘sending certificates’. When you finish this path, go to your pastor, tell them you have walked this stretch of the road, and ask: where does the church need me?
Go and make disciples of all nations
Matthew 28:19 · WEB
Go and see your pastor (or the person who leads you), tell them you have finished the Sending Path, and ask: where does the church need me? Then invite someone to walk the Seeking Path or the New Believer’s Path with you next time.
Just this one thing. When you do it, tap that day below; if you don’t, that’s all right—try again next week.
Good. Tap each day you do it this week:
Putting down roots is not something you do alone. Find a brother or sister you trust (ideally of the same sex) and talk this question over this week:
What do you carry that someone passed on to you, and that you want to pass on too?
