For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them.
Ephesians 2:10 · WEB
Work, meals, scrolling through our phones, one day after another—many of us have asked ourselves late one night: what is the point of it all? If you have asked that too, you are not alone. This lesson does not ask you to believe anything first; we will simply look together at how the Bible answers the question.
Right at the start, the Bible says human beings are no accident: “God created man in his own image.” (Genesis 1:27) If that is true, you carry something no other creature has—the ability to love, to think, to ask ‘why?’ The very fact that you ask whether life has meaning may itself be a clue.
Another passage says, “For we are his workmanship,” (Ephesians 2:10) like a piece made with great care, and “created in Christ Jesus for good works.” (Ephesians 2:10) In the Bible’s view, meaning is not something we have to manufacture ourselves; it was put inside us when we were made.
You may agree or you may not; either is fine. Just think about the two questions below; you can write your thoughts down too, and only you will see them.
There is no right answer. What you write is stored only in this device’s browser; we cannot see it, and it is never uploaded.
Many people only slowly think these questions through in conversation with one person. If you would like, we are glad to talk with you—no selling, no pressure.
