Rooting PathChoose courses as at a seminary: the Bible, the faith, history, and living the faith in everyday life. Core courses lay the foundation; choose electives as you need them.

Core courses

Christian Living Core · 7 lessons · live Marriage, family, work, money, friends and neighbors, hardship, death and hope—letting Scripture into real life. One practice per lesson, plus a conversation with a companion; in Lesson 7 you go back and revise your Rule of Life card. How to Read the Bible Core · 7 lessons · live · About 15–20 minutes per lesson (including the exercise) Reading the Bible is not solving riddles, nor picking out a line to comfort yourself; it is slowing down to see what it said then, and then asking what it says to me today. Every other course depends on it. Parables of Jesus Core · live 9 / 9 lessons · about 30 minutes per lesson Jesus spoke of the kingdom with seeds, sheep, money and banquets. Nine lessons: an introduction plus one representative parable from each unit; the rest are in the parable library whenever you want more. Each lesson has Read Together, teaching, insights from interpreters through the ages, questions to ponder and This Week. Old Testament Survey Core · 7 lessons · live · About 15–20 minutes per lesson, plus this week’s Bible reading From creation to the return from exile: God makes and keeps covenant again and again, and the whole Old Testament points to Christ. New Testament Survey Core · 7 lessons · live · About 15–20 minutes per lesson, plus this week’s Bible reading The One the Old Testament waited for has come: the four Gospels, Acts, the letters, and Revelation. Foundations of the Faith Core · coming soon Turning the 88 questions of The Christian Life Catechism from a tool into a course: the book has 7 chapters, so 7 lessons.

Electives

Bible Figures Elective · live 24 figures 44 Bible figures, up to 7 lessons each. Read by person, or find one by what you are going through. Marriage and Family Elective · live On the Rock, Heavenly Spring’s family ministry: five stages—rooted, seeking, covenant, journeying together, passing it on—chosen by your stage of life: single, dating, engaged, married, parenting. Church History Elective · coming soon How the church came through two thousand years, ending with the Chinese church. History of Theology Advanced elective · live Six threads of debate, beginning with the Trinity: until you are clear whether the Son is God, the later debates make no sense. Best taken after Foundations of the Faith and Church History.

You don’t have to take every course: the core courses lay the foundation, and you choose electives as you need them. When you finish Christian Living, come back and revise your Rule of Life card.
