Seeking Path · Lesson 9: Extra lesson · Aren’t All Religions the Same?

This lesson in one sentence: Don’t criticize other faiths; make clear what the Bible says: the difference is not in rules, but in God coming down to find people.

Opening

What do most people in your family or around you believe?

Read Together

There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!

Acts 4:12 · WEB

Discussion

  1. ‘Every religion teaches people to be good; different roads lead to the same place’—what do you think of this saying?
  2. “There is salvation in no one else” (Acts 4:12)—does this feel narrow to you, or something else? Why?
  3. ‘Not people climbing up, but God coming down’—compared with other faiths you know, how is this different?

To take home and think about

What do the people around you believe? What good things have you seen in their faith?

Closing

The leader prays briefly (optional), or simply thanks everyone for coming.

Tips for the leader

  • Someone in the group may have family who follow another religion. Don’t criticize or mock any faith, and don’t let the discussion turn into a contest over who is right.
  • If someone asks, ‘What about people who have never heard the gospel?’ that is a real question; you can say, ‘We won’t rush to a conclusion,’ and talk more afterwards.
  • Bring it back to the question of Lesson 4: who is Jesus?

General principles for leaders

  • The leader is not a teacher but someone who walks alongside everyone.
  • Give everyone a chance to speak; with someone who talks a lot, you can gently say, ‘Let’s also hear from friends who haven’t spoken yet.’
  • Don’t rush to give answers. If someone is silent, wait a few more seconds.
  • For a question you can’t answer, you can say, ‘I don’t know either; let’s look it up together,’ and note it down for next time.
  • What is said in the group stays in the group.
  • At the opening, the leader can give their own answer first, showing that it can be simple and honest.
