Acts 26:18 ...to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God...
In 1892, a Scottish stonemason who had received only three months of training made a vow before setting out: by the grace of God, to spend and be spent for those sitting in darkness. For over thirty years thereafter, William Christie rode on horseback across the Gansu-Tibetan border region, traveling seventeen hundred miles in a single year. What he did was precisely the mission the Lord gave to Paul: to open people's eyes and turn them from darkness to light. Today, there are many around me who are still in darkness. Am I willing to give up my time, money, and comfort for them?
Lord who sends us, thank You for opening my eyes, turning me from darkness to light, and granting me the forgiveness of sins through faith. Please grant me the resolve of William Christie, not clinging to comfort, but willingly spending and being spent for the souls of others. Please raise up more workers for the Tibetan region and all unreached peoples, and use me as Your witness among my family, colleagues, and neighbors. May the eyes of many more be opened, that they may receive an inheritance among those who are sanctified. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
