Romans 10:14-15 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!"
A childless widow guarded a door she dared not close, waiting for nine years simply because someone had promised, "Someone will be sent." She heard and she believed, yet no one ever stayed to teach her. Paul asked, "And how are they to hear without someone preaching?" This question still confronts us today. Those who wait may not be in distant villages, but among our neighbors, colleagues, and family members. Have we too made promises of "someday," leaving them waiting indefinitely?
Loving Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Your beloved Son to be the Bread of Life, and for sending faithful servants throughout the generations to bring the gospel to us. Forgive our apathy and procrastination, and open our eyes to see those around us who are still waiting. Send out workers into Your harvest, and prepare our footsteps to be willingly sent by You. May we no longer merely say "someday," but choose to love and proclaim today. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.
