Isaiah 41:13 For I, the LORD your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, "Fear not, I am the one who helps you."
We often think of faith as the peace that comes from seeing the road ahead clearly, but true faith begins precisely in the midst of mists and storms. Isobel Kuhn found God in the very midst of the mist of doubt, and the book of Isaiah reminds us: God never promised smooth sailing, but He did promise His steadfast presence. When you tremble because of an unknown tomorrow and cannot see the way forward, you do not need to force yourself to figure everything out. Faith is not by sight, but placing your weakness into His mighty hand. The Lord who rules the wind and waves is saying to you personally, "Fear not, I will help you." In your anxiety, simply let go of control and hold fast to His right hand that sustains you.
Lord, when the storms of life rage and the mists of doubt surround me, be the steadfast anchor of my soul. I know I do not need to see the bend in the road ahead, for You already hold my right hand. When fear strikes, let me hear Your still, small voice saying to me, "Fear not, I will help you." Lord, I surrender my own struggles and the crutches of sight, choosing instead to trust solely in Your faithfulness in the dark. Hold me up, guide me, and let me truly experience Your mighty grip and endless grace in every step of my weakness. Amen.
