— Jean Joseph Marie Amiot
All my possessions left in China, besides a few cleaned old clothes, a few well-worn Bibles, and this unfinished manuscript, are nothing else. Now, the mother church in Europe has dispersed, and this ancient empire I inhabit is heading towards its unknown fate. In this utter solitude, I kneel down and entrust this land I have loved all my life, its church, and my distant, troubled homeland entirely into the loving hands of God. May Your Kingdom come, and Your will be done here as it is in heaven. Amen.

📖 Scripture Reference

Matthew 6:10 Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

💭 Reflection

Faced with Qian Deming's poignant yet resolute final moments, I deeply questioned myself: When witnessing the disintegration of the system upon which we rely and the uncertainty of our circumstances, does my faith still hold an unyielding anchor? He possessed nothing but a few old clothes and a tattered Bible, yet he possessed the richest soul. We often ask God to fulfill our plans, but true life transformation, like his, is about willingly relinquishing control in utter solitude and turmoil, entrusting loved ones, the land, and the unknown tomorrow entirely to the Lord. Only by shedding worldly attachments can the "Your will be done" in the Lord's Prayer become the truest declaration in our hearts, bringing forth a steadfastness and peace that transcends circumstances.

🙏 Prayer

Our loving Heavenly Father, in the face of life's impermanence and the turmoil of our circumstances, grant me the same unwavering faith as the sages of old. When earthly reliance falters, open my eyes and let me see that earthly treasures will fade, but Your promises will never waver. Lord, I entrust my family, the land I live on, and the unknown tomorrow, all that I cherish most, into Your loving hands. Take away my anxiety and desire for control, so that each day I may sincerely cry out to You: May Your Kingdom come, may Your will be done in my life and in this land, as it is done in heaven. Amen.
