The Chinese church must not merely be a …

— Robert A. Jaffray
The Chinese church must not merely be a vessel for receiving grace, but also a conduit from which rivers of living water flow. God saves you not so that you may wait in comfort in your locality for heaven, but so that you may undertake the mission of spreading the gospel throughout Jerusalem, all of Judea, Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. Millions of souls in Southeast Asia and the Far East await the footsteps of Chinese missionaries.

📖 Scripture Reference

John 7:38 “Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, ‘rivers of living water will flow from within them.’”

💭 Reflection

We often treat faith as a "reservoir" to satisfy our own desires, seeking only peace and grace, yet allowing our lives to stagnate and become dull in inward comfort. Pastor Zhai Fumin's cry has awakened us: the "rivers of living water" promised by the Lord Jesus were never meant for us to wait in place for heaven, but to flow outwards. The Chinese church and we today cannot be mere consumers of grace, but must be transmitters of the gospel. Examining my present moment, is my life a stagnant pool, or a clear spring flowing towards those thirsty, unseen people around me?

🙏 Prayer

Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for flowing Your unfathomable grace and the Holy Spirit into our lives. Lord, forgive me for often indulging in the weaknesses of the flesh, for coveting local comfort and ease, and for setting aside Your great commission. Expand my spiritual vision and ignite the flame of mission within me. Do not let me become a closed reservoir; trim me into a flowing channel, so that Your living waters, through my obedience, may transcend my comfort zone and flow to the thirsty souls of Southeast Asia, the Far East, and indeed, throughout the world. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!
