Matthew 5:36 You shall not swear by your own head, for you cannot make even one hair of your head black or white.
Humans often feel proud of their vast energy and technological prowess, forgetting that even the smallest aspects of life are beyond their control. Just as we cannot fully control the color of a single hair or the cause of a single breath, this "inability" is not meant to cause despair, but rather to remind us of our duty as created beings. True wisdom lies in recognizing our own limitations, letting go of arrogance and self-pity, and humbly bowing before an omnipotent Creator. Only by acknowledging our powerlessness can our tense hearts truly be unbound, thus entering into the true freedom of truth and life.
O Creator of the universe, who watches over even the smallest things, I praise Your infinite wisdom. When I am complacent with worldly achievements or worried about the unknown tomorrow, I ask that You awaken me with this scripture. Lord, I cannot even control a single hair of my own head; the breath of my life depends entirely on You. Grant me a humble and submissive heart, willingly laying down the burden of believing I can control everything, and re-entrusting sovereignty into Your holy hands. May my life not be consumed by arrogance or vanity, but through knowing Your greatness, may I enjoy the heavenly peace that transcends all care and protection. Amen.
