Matthew 10:28 Do not be afraid of those who can kill the body but not destroy the soul. But fear God who has the power to destroy both the soul and the body in hell.
Thomas's dying words resonate with the teachings of Jesus, profoundly impacting those of us who, though living in comfort, are often plagued by anxiety. We are frequently preoccupied with temporary gains and losses, physical comfort, or the opinions of others, neglecting the truly inviolable abode of the soul. Thomas proved with his life that when one's life is fully connected with the Lord, worldly threats and the shadow of death lose their power. Today, have I built my security on material things that can be destroyed? Lord, grant me a perspective beyond the present, to disregard fleeting power, and to revere only the God who rules over eternal life.
Lord, thank you for speaking to my heart again through Thomas's testimony and your truth. In this world full of temptations and turmoil, grant me the unwavering courage of Thomas, so that I may no longer fear the worldly storms that can only harm the body but not the soul. Link my life tightly to you, be the steadfast anchor of my soul. Whatever circumstances or challenges I face, may I disregard temporary gains and losses, and follow you with only reverence and sincerity, making my life a testimony to your resurrection. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
