Matthew 20:28 "Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."
Fu Lanya, in her solitude, chose to transcend sectarian boundaries, serving late Qing China with pure charity and scientific enlightenment, profoundly embodying the life model of Jesus Christ's "serving others." We often pursue recognition and service in secular or religious settings, neglecting the fact that Christ's path is one of rooting ourselves downwards and selflessly serving as servants. True faith lies not in lofty preaching, but in recognizing the needs of our time and transforming ourselves into a grain of wheat amidst solitude and misunderstanding. Only by humbling ourselves to serve the most insignificant among us can our lives reveal their eternal, noble value, akin to a "ransom."
Loving Heavenly Father, thank you for sending your Son Jesus into the world, seeking neither glory nor honor, but humbly walking the path of service and self-sacrifice. Grant me the same transcendent spirit as missionary John Fryer, that when I feel misunderstood or alone in my ministry or work, may your word be my steadfast rock. Strip away the selfishness and pride in my heart that yearns to be served, and open my eyes to see the needs of those around me. Lord, send me and use me, that I may willingly serve my neighbors with love, practice true piety through pure good deeds, and live out the radiance of your eternal righteousness and truth. Amen.
