Proverbs 24:11-12 Deliver some from death, and stop others from going to slaughter. If you say, “Behold, I know nothing of this,” does He who measures the hearts of men not know? Does He who guards your life not know? Will He not repay each person according to what they have done?
Zhang Bicheng regards the Gospel as the only light in his hands, believing that standing idly by is a betrayal of the soul; this echoes the urgent exhortation in Proverbs to "rescue someone from death." We often use "I don't know" or "my abilities are limited" as excuses to mask our inner indifference in a comfortable environment. However, the Lord who measures the heart values whether we are willing to break the silence of selfishness. Reflecting on the present, am I holding the light of truth while letting those around me grope in darkness? Faith should not be a safe haven, but a driving force to enter into the world and prevent destruction.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for entrusting me with the light of life. Lord, forgive my comfort and selfishness; many times I have seen the struggle of souls yet chosen silence. Grant me the same sense of indebtedness as Zhang Bicheng, so that my heart may no longer be indifferent to those who are "pulled to the brink." May Your love inspire me, breaking through my timidity and indifference, so that I may no longer find excuses to shirk my responsibilities. Open my eyes to see the needs around me; strengthen my hands to deliver those in distress. May my life not betray this grace, but become a witness to Your truth. Amen.
