— C.T. Studd
Life is so short and fleeting; only what is done for Christ will last forever.

— C.T. Studd · Source: Only One Life

📖 Scripture Reference

1 John 2:17 The world and its desires are passing away, but the one who does the will of God lives forever.

💭 Reflection

Stuart's life is a vivid commentary on this passage. We often worry about things that are "fleeting": wealth, fame, or temporary success or failure, neglecting the fact that life itself dissipates like mist. Everything in the world is "passing away," and only by rooting our lives in God's will can ordinary labor be given eternal value. Today, examine your schedule: what are the "wood, grass, and stubble" that go with the world? What are the "gold, silver, and precious stones" done for Christ? Don't wait until the end to find yourself busy with emptiness. Since we only have one life, let us use it to pursue that one eternal goal.

🙏 Prayer

Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for reminding me of the true meaning of life with Your truth. Faced with this noisy world, my heart is often captivated by the lust of my eyes and the pride of this life, pursuing illusions destined to decay. Lord, grant me clear vision to see through the fleeting nature of time and to gain a wise heart. May Your Spirit guide me, so that everything I do and every word I speak today is not for the satisfaction of my own desires, but for the obedience of Your will. Burn my life, so that my remaining years and strength may be offered entirely to You, like Steddard. May my humble service leave its mark in Your eternity. Amen.
