Luke 2:52 Jesus grew together in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.
Bishop William Jones Boone opened each school day in Shanghai with religious instruction and prayer, and noted how the boys improved in their whole appearance, manners and conduct. This reminds us that faith should not be a floating "duckweed," but rather rooted in the soil of holistic growth. Jesus' growth encompassed four dimensions: wisdom, stature, and favor with God and with people. This reveals to us that a complete life requires not only spiritual passion but also rational thinking and the skills to serve society. In our busy lives with studies, work, or ministry, have we neglected this balance? True "renewal" begins when we integrate faith into our daily knowledge and responsibilities. Let us pursue the integrity that enables us to understand the beauty of creation and to be light and salt in society.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for not only saving our souls but also guiding our holistic growth. Grant us wisdom so that in our studies and professional endeavors, we may see through the light of reason the wondrous order You have created. Lord, shape our character so that we may not only be loved by You but also earn the respect and trust of others. May our lives no longer sway like duckweed, but like trees rooted by streams, growing stronger through the interplay of reason and faith. Use us to be upright and visionary citizens in our respective fields, contributing to the renewal of this world. Amen.
