— Augustine
Thus I at that time believed with my mother and the whole house, except my father; yet he did not overcome the influence of my mother's piety in me so as to prevent my believing in Christ, as he had not yet believed in Him. For she was desirous that You, O my God, should be my Father rather than he.

— Augustine · Source: Confessions, Book I, ch. 11

📖 Scripture Reference

Deuteronomy 6:6–7 These commands I give you today shall be on your hearts, and you shall diligently teach them to your children. You shall talk about them whether you are sitting at home, walking by the road, lying down, or getting up.

💭 Reflection

Deuteronomy reminds me that the starting point for raising children is not the methods, but whether my heart is first guided by God's word. What children truly learn is often not what I deliberately teach them, but the object of my reliance in life. Sitting, walking, lying down, and getting up—if faith is merely words, it is difficult to take root; only when I truly live in God's word can children see the direction of following God in their daily lives.

🙏 Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for the grace bestowed upon us today. First, hide your word deep within my heart, so that I may revere and rely on you in every moment of my life. Help me to guide my children with life, not pressure, so that they may see true faith in our home, not superficial success. May our family be guided by your word and walk in your light throughout our lives. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
