God does not act according to time, but …

— Augustine
God does not act according to time, but time unfolds in God's will. People think that He is slow, but in fact they just do not understand His order.

— Augustine · Source: "On the City of God"

📖 Scripture Reference

Ecclesiastes 3:1-2 There is a season for everything, and a season for everything under heaven. A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to uproot what is planted.

💭 Reflection

Augustine reminds us that God does not move forward in time, but that time unfolds in His will. Ecclesiastes says that there is a time for everything, a life and a death, a beginning and an end. Looking back at the completion of today's website functions, I discovered that what I once thought was procrastination was actually preparation; the process that I once thought was difficult is part of God's order. When I no longer rush time, but learn to obey God’s rhythm, the seemingly long wait actually reveals its true beauty at this moment.

🙏 Prayer

Lord, I thank you. You do not act according to my urgency, but you lead me according to your eternal purpose. Please give me a heart that waits quietly, without being proud when I start, not boasting when I finish, and not getting discouraged when I haven’t accomplished it yet. Teach me to believe that the time you arrange is never wasted; the process you allow will eventually be beautiful. In the name of the Lord Jesus, Amen.
