1 Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God; on the contrary, they are foolishness to him and he cannot know them, because they are discerned by the Spirit.
Thomas Aquinas reminded me that reason is not the enemy of faith, but it cannot cross the threshold of supernatural truth; only faith leads us into heavenly wisdom. Similarly, Paul said that the flesh cannot comprehend the things of the Spirit. I realized then that many times I tried to grasp God through analysis and logic, forgetting that spiritual truth can only be seen in the illumination of the Holy Spirit. Faith is not about abandoning reason, but about acknowledging its limitations and allowing faith to lead me to deeper truth and peace.
Lord, thank you for giving me reason, enabling me to understand the world; and thank you for giving me faith, enabling me to know truths beyond the world. Remove my carnal pride, and urge me to stop judging spiritual matters with my own wisdom. Holy Spirit, enlighten me, so that I may find the order of obedience between faith and reason—serving you with reason, and receiving you with faith. May your supernatural illumination guide me, leading me into true wisdom and profound peace. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
