"Brothers, if someone criticizes you or slanders you, don’t be angry with him, because you are actually worse than what he says!"
— Spurgeon

📖 Scripture Reference

Ecclesiastes 7:21-22 Do not take to heart everything people say, or you will hear your servant cursing you, for you know in your heart that you yourself often curse others.

💭 Reflection

This verse reminds me not to be overly sensitive to criticism or attacks from others. In reality, I often criticize and judge others in my heart. While others pointing out my flaws may sting, their words are often nothing compared to my true inner state. If I become angry at criticism, it only reveals my pride and unwillingness to confess my sin. God wants me to learn humility, to acknowledge my weaknesses, and to treat others with forgiveness and tolerance. Only then can I truly live in God's light and no longer lose my peace because of someone else's words.

🙏 Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for your words reminding me not to take people's opinions too seriously. Please grant me a humble heart. When others criticize or even misunderstand me, I will not rush to my defense or harbor anger, but rather remain quiet before you, knowing that you examine my heart. Lord, I confess that I often judge others. Please forgive me and cleanse my mouth and heart. May I learn humility and forgiveness in your grace, turning my eyes to you, unmoved by the voices of others, and seeking only to please you. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
